Plans for a gigantic incinerator alarm residents

(Merthyr Tydfil and Caerphilly, Wales, United Kingdom) Plans for a £400m incinerator brings concern for local neighbours and officials in Wales. The facility would be located right next to a controversial opencast mine, that residents are already suffering from and that might potenciate the risks of the operations. The labour Councillor from Town Ward (in Merthyr) Dai Jones said that he is extremely concerned that he has not been consulted for this proposal and claims of secret negotiations between Covanta and the Council. Along with him, stands a large group of locals and officials aiming the Assambely to consider its support for this sheme and to look for other options and other technologies before even considering burning waste in this scale. A plant of that size would probably take more resudal waste than is produced in Wales alone and it’s likely to import trash from Liverpool and other locations in the UK.
